MY STORY

Brand_Texture_Driftwood.png

I spent 25 years in the corporate world and had a brilliant career in technology consulting, however I felt myself becoming increasingly at odds with the manner in which I saw businesses being run, the way decisions were made, and the overall lack of work-life balance the further up the career ladder I went.

The last permanent role I had was working for a major multinational company in a senior position where in my early days I was horrified to find out the extent of dishonesty that went on behind the scenes, something which conflicted sharply with my own values and ethics - I knew I would not stay there long.

The corporate world had started to stifle me on so many levels and the further up the ladder I went, the more toxic the behaviour of my superiors and peers became, the more unrealistic the sales targets  were and the more I had to dumb myself down to fit in. It took a toll on my energy, emotions and creativity. Whilst earning well, I was restricted by a glass ceiling that would entail a huge amount of stress to break through to the next level. It became apparent that working for myself would give me more freedom and possibility to create something where I could use my full potential again. Years of running teams of people and managing multi-million pound budgets have given me the problem-solving skills and financial sense to run my own business.

I had already started to invest heavily in my own personal development, recognising the skills and experience I had gained from my corporate career were valuable and transferable. I continued to upskill myself in coaching and business techniques as well as training in NLP and studying with Marisa Peer to become RTT® qualified. And my interest in yoga and Vipassana meditation led me to researching the physical - subconscious link in depth; how traumatic events can be held at a physiological level and drive our behavioural patterns without us realising is a topic that continues to fascinate me.

I started my first coaching business in 2016, supplemented by freelancing work and investments to bring in other income streams, and piece by piece my dream life started to evolve. I continue to invest in myself so I can pass my knowledge on to my clients and help them get the results that they so deserve.

I believe that whatever your goals are in life, you should set about achieving them. And with the right attitude, approach and skill set – and above all, belief in yourself – you will succeed.  Make it happen!

I have a great love of the outdoors and can often be found walking my dog in the beautiful Hampshire countryside or spending time with my horse.

I’ve always loved travel and have had quite a few adventures from meditating in Myanmar to trekking in the Andes, being a “muleteer” in a transhumance in Andalucia and single-handedly running the now famous “Driving over Lemons” farm for author Chris Stewart. I also worked on superyachts in the Mediterranean and Caribbean and raced the Tracy Edwards’ Whitbread yacht 'Maiden GB' in the renowned Rolex Fastnet Race.

I started out as a professional classical musician, training at music college in London and playing in some of the most amazing venues in the UK before I retrained into IT.

I’ve always been interested in how we make money, whether that be from various different careers or from our own businesses or working as freelancers. I grew up seeing my father ‘dreaming the dream’ but then constantly failing at starting his own small businesses. It was my mother who was the steady earner, but she paid a very heavy price for this, usually working in jobs she hated with people who took advantage of her. I know that as a consequence I developed all sorts of beliefs about the way we make money, how easy – or difficult - it is for us to make money and how to hold onto money – and I’ve found myself having to do a fair amount of work on my own belief systems over the years! But, cliché though it sounds, I’ve come out the other side a stronger and wiser person.
